Golden Beach, Karpaz
Kilometres of wild sand and dunes at the tip of the island: no hotels, just sea, turtles and wild donkeys.

Golden Beach (Altınkum or Nangomi) is the most famous spot on the Karpaz peninsula. Dunes run for kilometres and the water is turquoise.
It is a protected part of the national park: sea turtles nest here and the famous wild donkeys of Karpaz roam the roads.
There are simple bungalows and family restaurants by the beach — perfect for a star-filled sky.
Tips
- Leave early and fill up the tank beforehand.
- Do not feed the donkeys bread or approach them from behind.
- No shade — umbrella, water, sunscreen.
