Kantara Castle
The easternmost of the three mountain castles — from its towers you see both coasts of the Karpaz peninsula.

Kantara stands about 600 metres up at the start of the Karpaz peninsula. The Byzantines built it, the Lusignans strengthened it.
Walls, towers and cisterns survive; on a clear day the view covers the whole east of the island.
Pine forest and hardly any visitors — the calmest of the three castles.
Tips
- Winding road — drive in daylight.
- 10–15 minutes’ climb.
- Combine with Karpaz or the beaches near Boğaz.
